Charlie Looking for his 'Forever Home'

Charlie is a gorgeous big brown/black male tabby. He is in desperate need of a wonderful family to love and care for him. Our friends at the Cat Rescue Network would love to hear from interested people. They can be reached at 613-820-7088 or at www.petfinder.com/shelters/ON159.html

His frost bitten ears and battle scars tell the story of a lifetime of misery and pain. Gentle, nurturing Charlie is a young adult cat, but his face is that of an old warrior. Charlie was trapped because he was trying to care for two young kittens. The kittens, Abigale and Edward, followed him everywhere; he was their protector and their nurturer. They followed him into a trap where he had led them to get food. They did not know it at the time, but being trapped was their only way to escape certain death. At first they were so frightened that, when released into a warm room, the kittens clung so closely to Charlie that they were almost invisible. He had wrapped his body around them to protect them. Abandoned in the country, Charlie was only found when an elderly farmer died and rescuers came to save the barn cats, who would have perished on the derelict farm. The rescuers decided that Charlie deserved a second chance at happiness. He is already beginning to realize that they will not harm him. Charlie is not with his kittens now because, in a misguided attempt to keep them safe, he will teach them to fear people; thereby thwarting their opportunity to find a loving home. His efforts to protect his kittens would also interfere with attempts by his foster parents to gain his trust. Charlie is mourning the loss of his kittens; and the little female kitten is clearly missing him. The little male has already made the transition into an affectionate domestic pet. Charlie is a gentle cat, very wise and he will be a wonderful pet for a caring person who appreciates his exceptionally sensitive nature. We hope that someone reading his story will offer him the forever home he so richly deserves. We are praying for a miracle that will result in Charlie and his female kitten Abigale, or one of his barn buddies, being adopted together.
