Ladies & Gentlemen... Another long weekend has commenced! Hang onto your fur hats!

This would be the infamous 2-4 weekend.... We're not talking tall cold ones here, at the Pet B&B.... but a couple of dozen more kitties... that sounds about right... Yes. It's been a crazy day... but finally, everyone has arrived. Let the festivities begin.....

(Left) My handsome big friend Felix (black) arrived a few days ago and has already gotten himself sorted in his big pirate boat... The view is gonna be great from here..... I wonder if they'll have fireworks?

(Left) One of our newbies... Our gorgeous girl Bean (black/white, back) is visiting for the first time. Her mom warned me that she's extremely shy and may get too stressed... I haven't seen any signs of that. I usually see her somewhere, out of the way, so that she can see what's going on. She loves her neck scratches this girl. Too cute! The handsome little lad on the top left is Skye (siamese) again. Of course, my regular readers will recognize Catou (white/dark tabby, bottom). Everyone looks so busy.. I guess that's because they have so much that they can do... There are gonna be some good stories told after this long weekend.

(Left) You know... When you're pooped, you're pooped! That's our handsome boy Charlie Chaplin (black/white) snoozin in a haybail this afternoon. He looks all fast asleep but he actually had an eye partly open, watching what I was doing... He's a bit shy with people but enjoys all of his cat freinds....

(Left) People are commenting today on how many dark tabbies I have in right now... That's true... but lets not forget my black cats.... In the airplane is Calypso. On the staircase is Felix. Both of these cats arrived this morning from separate homes. They have visited before as you could probably have guessed by how relaxed they are already. They will have a great weekend. Both are social and like to play.

(Left) Another one of our dark tabbies, Feline saw a townhouse vacancy and snapped it up.... It was a very busy day for this girl...She doesn't like too much commotion but she's doing great just the same. Here's another adorable girl that loves her neck scratches....Welcome back Feline.

(Left) More Siamese cuteness.... Sophie is Skye's little sister. I snapped her up yesterday, giving herself an extensive pedicure... Should I put the pink claw polish.... or the blue... Blue would match my pretty eyes..... She's such a little lady.

Another long weekend. What should we do first?

(Left) Tessie (dark tabby) just got picked up this afternoon... She has company coming this week.... I know that she's looking forward to seeing this special someone... Tess is due a nice big rest by the lake, now that all of the big moves are complete.. It's been a busy 2 months for this gorgeous little girl. Time to lie back and admire the sunsets..... Enjoy the rest of your summer Tess!

(Left) This handsome big black kittie is Rhubarb.... He loves to play with the cat toys and is one awesome climber. If you click on the pic, you'll see our gorgeous girl Mally (dark tabby), getting comfy on her ferris wheel, ready for her morning nap.... Rhubarb and his sister Daisy just went home yesterday. Mally is long weekending with us.... (Today I caught Skye trying to engage her... she wasn't sure if she wanted to play with him just yet....Rosaline though, that's a different story) .

(Left) More playfulness... Shanti (dark tabby) is back for her 2nd visit... She remembered BigBird2 from a of couple weeks ago... and, she remembered what fun it was to fly through the air, from one structure to the next. This athletic girl loves height...

(Left) This pretty calico is named Menou. She isn't one to sit out in the group, but always finds her way to her favorite kitchen cupboard. I snapped her up, just after breaky this morning. She's doing great. She's spent many a long weekend with me and her feline companions... We'll have her for a bit longer...

(Left) Skye (Siamese) is back in with his little sister (she's now gotten bigger than him). This once very shy boy gets more adventurous and confident each time that he's in. These siblings are having a great time with their new & old friends.... They'll have many more to play with, after tomorrow... Full house.. Let's Go!

(Left) Our handsome boys are Thebes (orange/white) and Lefty (black). Lefty was just visiting again with Frankie, his brother. They have since returned to their new house, for the first time. Thebes is having a great time climbing and playing with everyone/everything... This boy must be missed terribly, by the neighbourhood cats, when he's not home. I'll bet he's pretty good to rally the troops into playtime, at home too.

Let the good times roll....

(Left) Oh my goodness Rosaline (white/calico)..... That looks mighty heavy for such a little delicate girl like you! Are you sure that you wouldn't like some help.... Maybe we could ask Waldo..... This gorgeous girl arrived for a nice summer holiday with all of her friends... I often catch her playing with Catou and Mally. Mally has really taken a liking to this very playful, athletic girl... they chase each other all over the play strucures in the mornings...

(Left) Oh Goody! I love hot air balloon rides! No. I didn't place our adorable little Catou (white/dark tabby) with her front paws hanging over the side like this... She's just naturally cute.... all of the time... ' I wonder if they'll have tuna juice for me, when we get there...?'

(Left) Another gorgeous girl.... Max (calico) and her brother BooBoo the bunny were just here again over the weekend. Sounds like Max wasn't looking forward to the trip to the B&B.... She sure settled in quickly once she arrived. She's a gentle one...

(Left) More playful kids..... Our black & white beauty is JoJo... She just left this week. The handsome little lad in the background, was her good play buddy Thebes (orange/white tabby). JoJo took a couple of days to realize that the other kitties just wanted to play with her. She was very playful, all on her own. Thebes loves to play with anyone that is willing... He will have an absolute ball with Sharpe & Wolfgang, as they return this weekend. It was the first visit for both of these youngsters. They did great.

(Left) More cuteness... Jesse (tortoise shell, top bunk) was snapped up having a mid morning snack. The tiny little cute below is Twiggy (tortoise shell). Twiggy got over her shyness in a couple of days. Now I find her everywhere.... especially in my lap, once I sit to work on the computer. She's not so shy after all! My JesseBean... has never been shy here.... independant once in a while, but not shy. She loves to meet strangers as they climb the stairs to the 2nd floor. She's usually the chatty one, walking along the stair ledge... Both kitties are schmoozie...

(Left) BellaBean (dark tabby) is very chilled and relaxed once she finds her favorite snoozin' spot. She was also very patient with her mom & me, when she was picked up earlier this week. We got chatting... and one subject led to another.. to another.... Bella took it all in stride. 'That's fine.... Do what you gotta do.....' She's a gorgeous big girl.

Tabby land....

(Left) Our little charmer Percy (dark tabby) just went home this morning... This guy had a blast with Tigger... just call them soul mates.... Both of those guys are real social with all of the cats but they had extra fun playing together... They are roughly the same age.... playful adolescents... We'll see this cutie again in August... That's another cameo of Jak (dark tabby), in the background, in his favorite balloon.

(Left) There's my big handsome Heflin (orange/white). He just left yesterday too. It was a busy weekend here.... and he settled himself into this top level of one of the townhouses... From here, he could watch everyone down on the lower structures and 'keep 5' on the 2-leggeds in the hallway.... I'm sure that he's enjoying being outside in this nice weather again.

(Left) There's another familiar face.... We just had a recent visit from our old friend Lionel (dark tabby)....This shy-ish big boy loves climbing and sleeping at the highest heights.... He's such a gentle, calm boy. Always fun to have him back for another visit..

(Left) Even though Sweetie (Siberian) left last week... I had to post this pic for his mom and everyone else that can appreciate a cat's humour.... His mom and I hunted everywhere looking for Sweetie, when she came to take him back home. I was quite confident that I knew all of the cat's hiding spots here. Finally, I stopped and told her... You know what... I know he's sitting somewhere & watching us, right now, looking for him.... A few more minutes onward, after scratching my head once again... all I knew was that he was behind something... I walked into the bathroom, thinking maybe he was hiding behind the door, as I came out, I managed to see his fuzzy big tail, and then, a big furry cat, stretched out flat, behind the fishtank, watching us... When he realized that he'd been found out, he rolled over onto his back, being so playful and proud of himself and purred non-stop... He had no interest in leaving either... He was snuggly settled in back there, and ready for his afternoon nap... We all had a good laugh...

(Left) Just in case you were starting to think that I only had male cats in right now.... Here's our gorgeous Maman (grey/white tabby)... People can't get over how schmoozie this little one is, when they come into the groups to pick-up their cat... That's one of her buddies, Raja, (orange/white tabby) lying in the airplane with her...Raja and his sister Millie went home yesterday. Maman & her kids, Romeo & Catou send out a big Bonjour Maman....

Licorice & Peppermint Looking for Their Forever Home

Licorice and her sister Peppermint were born in April 2010, in a barn in the country.
Both are delightful kittens who have come a long way with all the TLC they are getting from their foster parents. Licorice is a little more outgoing than Peppermint but both love to play and they enjoy each others company. It would be nice if these little ones could be adopted together. Both are litter trained and up to date with shots.
For more information about Licorice and Peppermint and to see all the other lovelies that need a forever home, please visit the CRN website at www.catrescuenetwork.ca or send an email to flora_louise@yahoo.ca.

Is it a long weekend & nobody told me!?! Busy Day!!

(Left) Millie (black/white) is visiting again with her brother Raja. She loves hangin out in the airplane and on top of the bathroom cabinet. She gets along fine with all of the other cats, except, as her mom points out, with her brother.... They seem fine together, when they're here... I'm guessing it's more of a 'competition for attention' thing, at home....

(Left) My handsome ChiefieWiefie (dark tabby) was relaxing this afternoon, while he watched all of the craziness at the front door... I promised Chief a good brushing later this afternoon... I know that he'll remind me, like he reminds me to give him his meds... This is one smart kitty....

(Left) Tigger (dark tabby, front) seems to get around the room... He, like my handsome friend Romeo (yesterday), both love to hamm it up for the camera... The big charmer on top of the birdhouse, is Chester.... He and his brother Dillon just left a short while ago.... They had much fun with their playful buddies.... And Tigger, well, Tigger doesn't need anyone around to have a good time... but he has been very social with his piers this visit...

(Left) Mr. D..... There is no mistaking an Abysinnian's stare... they have very fine tuned vision and hearing... much like an owl... Not much gets past their senses.... My handsome Diablo loves to watch all of the other cats. He has a lot of play in him too... He sends out a big Hi to his mom & dad in the sunny south....

(Left) Dimitri (orange tabby) must be pushing 19 or 20 years of age now..... He's still a perky little guy with a great appetite.... As in previous pics of him, over the years, he's usually found up on the loft, adorning one of my cat sized beds.... just like this... I believe he is returning home early next week. Always good to see you again Dimi.

(Left) Another handsome old charmer for you... Morris visited once last year.... He's about 19 years old too... He, like Dimitri, is in good shape, with no chronic health issues.... They do their own thing and settle into their favorite spaces... The smell of wet cat food always sends a surge of energy through their furry bodies... We will have Morris for a while yet.

Everywhere I look... little fur covered comedians...

(Left) As per usual, I was taking some pics of the cats, specifically of Chester (not shown here).. who was sitting on top of the tall pantry, shown here.... and, with radar precision, our little handsome Romeo (dark tabby) just appeared.... That's the best way to describe it, cause you don't actually see him coming.... and, there he is... right in your lens... He's hilarious with the camera! Way more subtle, but just as charming, Dillon (orange tabby) made a little cameo appearance... It was Dillon's brother Chester, that I was trying to line up.....

(Left) More adorable newbies.. This gorgeous kitty is named Twiggy (tortoise shell). She arrived this week from out west and will be calling Ottawa home, for a while. She is a bit shy but real gentle. She's had a lot to adjust to, on her visit East, but is taking it all in stride...

(Left) We know this handsome dark tabby. Tigger looks a lot like Chester, but so far, Tigger has a bigger fascination with BigBird2. So many dark tabbies in this week. Last week was grey/white tabby week. They are very good at entertaining themselves....and/or birds..

(Left) My gorgeous Mallykins (dark tabby).... When Mally gets playing, she gets 'that look' in her eyes.... most often seen when she's trying to 'capture' her 'prey'.... in this instance, one of her favorite toys, a pipe cleaner. She is no stranger to the B&B and never has trouble finding things to amuse herself with. Anyone got a Pipe Cleaner?! One will do!

(Left) More kitty cuteness... Squeak (grey/white tabby) and his sister Mouse just left this week. Squeakers is a 'hamm and a half'....Can't you just tell?

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Change is good.... Familiarity is comforting....Change becomes Familiarity.

(Left) RhuiRhubarb (black) is a handsome big boy. He's a bit on the independant side and although he sometimes likes to make you think that he wants patting, sometimes he really doesn't... With his dad however, he is less unpredictable. Rhubarb is visiting with his sister Daisy, from yesterday. Both kids are doing just great.

(Left) More old friends have arrived... Jesse (tortoise shell) and her brother Waldo are very familiar with the summer craziness, at the B&B... Jesse loves her corner bunk beds.. I set her up here, with her own food dish. She has the big sunny windows to lie in, when she wants a change. From this venue, she's well out of the action, whilst being able to monitor the goings on.. Yep! She's good!

(Left) WallyWallyWaldo (black/white) also likes being up high. Many mornings, I find him on top of the loft, on a cat sized bed, with a couple of other buddies like Jak or Dimitri... In the afternoon, I often find him here, on the stair structure. He's also high enough, far enough out of the path of craziness, but with an excellent view of everything/everyone.... He's great too! To the front of the pic.. is Mr Toes..... aka.. Sweetie (Siberian)... This little boy plays hard with his little friends... He's having a ball with Tigger & newbie Dillon... But, when you're tired.... it's best to listen to the old furry skin & bones...

(Left) This handsome little shy boy is Champlain (grey/white). He and cousin Baklava just went home yesterday. This guy has quite a fear of people... This visit, I placed and left his whole cat carrier, right inside of the townhouse, with his food bowls... He was much happier having the security of his carrier. He came out and did his exploring, after office hours, the first day or two. After that, I caught him wandering about, when strangers weren't here. He did just fine. I don't think that he wanted to leave....

(Left) Taffy (orange tabby) and his roof tops.... boy, if he could get higher, he would... This handsome big boy is often found on the ground too.... and, it's just his luck, the gorgeous big bunnies Shoushoune & Mango have returned, at the same time, that he has, for this holiday.... He has fun watching them zoom around the hallways.....

(Left) Mommy Snowy (top bus) and her daughter Ople ( back right bunk beds) were here not that long ago... and they'll be back in, before long... Sounds like these girls are going to have a whole new home to explore real soon... a country home this time... that will be very exciting for them... and a big change from their urban scene... They will have much to talk about when I see them at Christmas time...

Each one... A charmer...

(Left) No. This picture of our handsome Raja (white/orange) is not upside down.... He is! This funny little guy is back for another visit with his sister Millie... So far, he's spending most of his days in the space ship... his sister is found everywhere. He's taking this opportunity to stretch out and take it easy.... He's loving the view from up here...

(Left) There's our gorgeous girl Tammy (calico). She's back again visiting her old friends. This big girl has a gorgeous soft coat and gentle, sweet personality. We'll see her again later this summer. She sends out a big Salut! to the boys...

(Left) One of my energetic newbies... I've had quite a few young female felines in this past week.... None of them related but all of them playful and athletic. Baklava (black) visited this time with her cousin Champlain. This girl loves to play with Lola and was starting to play with Noel, even though they had only just met this weekend. This very agile girl is an awesome climber... just like her girly piers....

(Left) Daisy (grey/white) and her brother Rhubarb are in once again. This is Daisy's 'I'm gonna roll over now and hope that you take my hint for a tummy rub' pose... Don't forget that you're up on the stair case big girl... I don't want you to take a tumble...

(Left) Here comes Action Plus..... Little.. but mighty.. Lola (tortoise shell) was a force to be reckoned with for her first few hours in... Once this little 8 month old beauty realized that Baklava & friends, only wanted to play, she joined right in. She is also a real social people kitty..

(Left) There's my little Peanut Pie (grey/white tabby)... Peanut has been visiting for about 6 years already... He's such a marshmallow.... soft, plush & schmoozie.... He is oft times found in his favorite pirate boat... but I snapped him 'on tour' this am, on top of the Kitty Condo.... This handsome little boy will be returning home this week. Always great to see you my little Peanut Pie....

Brooke Looking for her Forever Home

This is Brooke, a lovely eleven year old gray cat who has been with her currrent owner since she was a two month old kitten. Brooke is an indoor only cat who was litter and scratch pad trained from a very early age. Although she was a good pet when there were only adults in the home, Brooke did not adapted well when children arrived on the scene and when a new cat was introduced.
While she is very independent, Brooke does like adult company and loves to be petted. She would make a purr-fect addition to a one pet adult household. She is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered. For more information about Brooke and to see all the other lovelies that need a forever home, please visit the CRN website at www.catrescuenetwork.ca or send an email to flora_louise@yahoo.ca.

Seems like we just had a Friday, two days ago....

(Left) Sounds like I'll be seeing a lot of this gorgeous big girl over the next couple of months.... Mirette (calico) will be so pleased to have mom & dad newly retired.... She knows that that will convert into a whole lot more play time with her.... Here's her famous 'tummy in the air' pose.... I think her folks will be seeing a whole lot of this from now on....

(Left) Sweetness (Siberian) is chillin' in this summer's heat... He loves to play hard but, now that he's a bit older, he also fits in a few 'cool downs'... just to keep in balance.. Sweetie is having a great time with his new little friends Princess & Shanti..... Not to say that he's strictly a lady's man... He also really enjoys playing with his male piers.... He sends out a big Hi to his mom overseas....

(Left) Max (grey tabby) has been visiting us for years. He can be a shy guy but it doesn't stop him from enjoying his holiday. He's taken up residence in the big red phone booth.... close to BigBird1's house. When it comes to getting attention, if you make the first move, he'll take your hint and run with it.... He's not really a cat that will be forward about wanting attention.... not here anyway... He's doing just fine.

(Left) There's our little cutie Princess (black/white). This busy girl has loads of energy to burn. She loves flying around in my big airplane. She's just a tiny little one but that doesn't limit her curiosity or will.... She'll have all kinds of new muscles by the time she goes home.... She'll be well primed to play with her new little sibling that's on the way.

(Left) There's our gorgeous NoelaWela...... aka... Noel (grey) again. You can tell by her eyes that she's a 'going concern'.... It would be fun to put a little pedometer on this little las, just for fun, to see how many km she puts on before 10:30 in the morning... It would, of course, have to measure distance travelled, without feet touching the ground... cause most of this girls' antics take place in the air.... She's lovin' having so many feline buddies to play with.

(Left) My 'Mousie in the Housie'... loves the town houses this visit. Mouse (grey/white) and her brother Squeak, have returned for their summer holiday. This little girl can be unpredictable when it comes to wanting attention.... It's always best to go at her pace when playing with her. She does her own independant thing and is quite happy with that.
